The Peninsula Flyers, Inc. were recognized as an EAA chapter in 1974, however our roots are intertwined with the History of Aviation in Door County Wisconsin.

In 2001 John Enigl and Wallace "Bud" Felhofer published a comprehensive history of aviation in Door County Wisconsin. Their goal had been to record the development of aviation in the county before it was forgotten. There were about 200 copies of the book printed and remaining copies can be obtained from the Door County Historical Society. John Enigl granted permission to have the book made available on our chapter's website.

You will discover that the first flight made in Door County was by non other than Lincoln Beachey on September 19, 1912.

You will find this 120 page history an interesting read. Just follow the links to the left and enjoy a step back in time.
